3D Printing – also known as rapid prototyping, is where a 3D computer model is printed into a 3 dimensional solid object. In other words 3D printing is turning a virtual object into a physical object using a 3 dimensional printer. There are an increasing number of consumer 3D printers available. The Makerbot Replicator is perhaps one of the mot popular (at the time of writing this entry) consumer 3D printers available for purchasing. A DIY 3D printer that is widely used is the ORD Bot, a great open-source 3D printer.
